Drilling a thumb recess into a flat ended bullet bar

Michael Lee Allen graciously gave me a bunch of these bars, which are chrome plated brass and the perfect size for me, but they have a flat end. This is how I have been dealing with them. I’ve done about a half dozen, I should be good for a while.
