Spark Amp Setting for Lap Steel to get Pedal Steel sound with benders????

Post by Doug Anderson »

I frequently play my lap steel through my Spark Mini amp because its so light, portable, etc. etc. Curious if you've found a Spark Amp setting you like to get a pedal steel sound with benders.

Love the lap steel style of sound that Troy B gets on this song......

I use a Spark 40. After trying several different tones, I just created my own. I started with a clean amp and added and subtracted different pedals until I found what I wanted. Try different heads to get the sound you want. after you get the sound you want you then re name it whatever you want and save it to your favorites. Since I also play bass way more than lap steel, I did the same for that also. This can take some time, but the outcome is worth it.

Just use your ears and experiment. There's no shortcut to that process.

I've never used the Spark. But I really like the Roland Mobile Cube, and the Roland Street Cube EX. Both are excellent amps that run on AA batteries.

Doug...

Using the SPARK app on your phone and connecting to the amp - and searching for Steel Guitar in the Spark Cloud,
you'll find a dozen or more presets contributed by other players.

Ron Hogan, Troy Brenningmeyer, and several others have authored presets that can be tested on your amp. If you like one you can download to your amp and save as a preset.

I'm guessing you already know all this, but just in case...
